Cartridge Confidential

Cartridge Confidential is an archive of fictional magazine spreads built around real retro games but mostly, it’s an excuse to actually play my collection instead of just rearranging it on a shelf.

This is a personal project. I want to write about games... the ones that meant something, the ones that got overlooked and anything else thats interesting to think about. The format is always the same, a one or two page fake magazine spread

Limiting each piece to a spread forces me to finish a thought. No endless drafts. No scope creep. No half written essays sitting in a folder somewhere. Pick a subject. Write it. Make it look good. Post it.

There is no real magazine. There never was. But the aesthetic of 90s - 00s and the sense that games were worth taking seriously feels right to me.

I'm Ryan. I've been playing games since whenver and this is where I put the thoughts that don't fit anywhere else.
